Over 40 years Mark Pope has traversed the length and breadth of the Australian music industry as a tour manager, promoter, event producer, artist manager, record company executive and innovator. Commencing his career in the 1980s as the tour manager and in house promoter for The Angels and Cold Chisel, Mark went on to manage Jimmy Barnes’ solo career with the Bodyswerve, For the Working Class Man and Freight Train Heart albums whilst promoting INXS and Rickie Lee Jones amongst others. In 1987 Mark co-conceived, produced and promoted the Australian Made series of outdoor festivals as well as promoting Midnight Oil's Blue Sky Mining Tour, signing Troy Newman to Warner Music with his debut album Gypsy Moon whilst working for INXS in America. In 1991 Mark joined Sony Music as National Marketing Manager Australian Artists working with Tina Arena and Midnight Oil amongst others, and also co-produced and promoted the Concert for Life Benefit for the Victor Chang Cardiac Unit. In 1993 Mark joined Warner Music as Head of A&R and Marketing building an enviable artist roster including Regurgitator, The Superjesus, Taxiride, The Whitlams and signing Jimmy Barnes for his multi-platinum selling album Soul Deeper. In 2002 Mark was headhunted by ARIA to helm and reconfigure the ARIA Awards into what is now perceived by many to be the pinnacle of awards shows in Australia. During his decade with the ARIA’s Mark also produced Wave Aid in 2005, Live Earth in 2007 and Sound Relief in 2009, as well as the ARIA Hall of Fame event and the Alberts’ 125th Anniversary in 2010. In 2013 Mark co-produced the Daft Punk Random Access Memories album launch and was the Associate Producer of the INXS Never Tear Us Apart miniseries which premiered on Channel Seven in 2014.
